Navy apprehends 2 local fishermen engaged in illegal fishing

Naval personnel attached to SLNS Kashyapa located in Vakarei in the Eastern Naval Command arrested 2 local fishermen who engaged in illegal fishing activities using monofilament nets in the seas off Batticaloa yesterday (31).

Along with the suspects, a monofilament net was taken into naval custody. The apprehended persons and belongings were handed over to the Assistant Directorate of Fisheries in Batticaloa for further investigations.
