The Navy rendered assistance to transfer an injured fisherman ashore swiftly for immediate medical treatment yesterday (28). The fisherman who was onboard a multiday fishing trawler "Kevin Putha" had sustained severe penetration - wound in his head and was in a critical condition.
On receipt of information, the Inshore Patrol Craft, P 142 attached to SLNS Vijaya in Kalpitiya was immediately dispatched to the location and the patient was safely transferred to the naval craft in the seas, 11Nautical Miles off Kalaaru. Having treated the patient with first-aid, he was rushed to Kalpitiya Base Hospital for further treatment.
