Navy nabs a person with 30 kg of Kerala Cannabis
 

A group of naval personnel attached to SLNS Uththara in Kankesanthurai, SLNS Kanchadewa in Kytes and SLNS Welusumana in Mandativu managed to seize 30 kg of Kerala Cannabis during raids carried out at two separate locations in Chavakachcheri. Accordingly a person who was transporting 20 kg of cannabis was taken into naval custody today (26). Subsequently the Navy recovered another 10 kg haul of cannabis concealed by the same suspect. The raid was conducted in coordination with the officials of the Department of Excise in Point Pedro upon an intelligence tip-off received by the Navy.

The apprehended person along with the haul of cannabis was produced to the Department of Excise in Point Pedro for onward legal actions.
