Annual Fleet Rigging Competition - 2016
The Annual Fleet Rigging Competition – 2016 organized by Flag Officer Commanding Naval Fleet (FOCNF) and staff was held at the Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda Auditorium in Trincomalee on 12th August 2016. Flag Officer Commanding Naval Fleet, Rear Admiral Dayananda Nanayakkara grace the occasion as the Chief Guest. A large number of naval officers and sailors of the Afloat Command were also present on the occasion.
The objective of the competition was to enhance the competency of rigging, which is compulsorily required for seamen, through competitiveness whilst building up leadership and team work.
Having performed competitively, the best 8 teams selected from the first round remained in the competition as the competition reached the quarter finals. At the finals, two teams representing SLNS Sagara competed to be the champions. After a tight competition, the first team of SLNS Sagara emerged champions making their counterpart the runners up. Leading Seaman RPGN Kumarasinghe was adjudged the best performer in the competition.
