Commander of the Navy visits Northern Naval Area
 

Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne visited the Northern Naval Area yesterday (6) in order to inspect its operational readiness and administrative functions. Commander of the Navy was received by Commander Northern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Piyal De Silva upon his arrival and was accompanied by several senior naval officers attached to the Naval Headquarters and the Northern Naval Command.

During the inspection tour, Vice Admiral Wijegunaratne took time off to visit Nagadeepa Rajamaha Viharaya and Naguleswaram Kovil in Keerimalai, two most respected religious places in Jaffna, to receive the blessings. Subsequently he toured several naval bases located in the Northern Naval Command and addressed both officers and sailors in the area. While addressing the naval personnel, he emphasized the importance of the service rendered by the naval personnel in reaching military and national objectives whilst maintaining a good relationship with the civilian community in the area. The dedication and commitment of the officers and sailors to fulfill the assigned tasks and to maintain the operational readiness both at sea and on land were appreciated by the Commander.
