Navy apprehends 23 local fishermen engaged in illegal fishing
 

Naval personnel attached to SLN Dockyard located in Trincomalee belonging to the Eastern Naval Command arrested 23 local fishermen who engaged in illegal fishing practices using monofilament nets in the seas off Sampoor Island today (5).

Along with the suspects; 3 fishing boats and 3 monofilament nets were taken into naval custody. The apprehended persons and belongings were produced to Trincomalee Harbour Police for further investigations.
