Navy clinches the overall championship at SLT Speedup Cycle Race
Ordinary Seaman Darshana Prasad in the Sri Lanka Navy clinched the overall tour championship at the SLT Speedup Cycle Race which concluded recently covering a total distance of 780.5 km.The mega cycling event was organized by Sri Lanka Cycling Federation with the sponsorship of Sri Lanka Telecom. Moreover, the Navy cyclists managed to secure the “Best Young Rider” title and the second place among all the teams as well.
Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne today (3) at the Naval Headquarters, congratulated the Navy cyclists who brought fame to the Sri Lanka Navy securing significant achievements during the SLT Speedup Cycle Race which is known to be the longest cross-country cycle race ever recorded. Further Commander of the Navy extended his heartfelt gratitude to the coach, President and officers of the Navy Cycling Association for their sheer dedication in terms of making all the arrangements ready for the cyclists to reach new heights. Meanwhile Ordinary Seaman Avishka Madonza was elected as the “Best Young Rider” in the overall tour which lasted five days in six stages.
