Rear Admiral Senarath Jayasinghe retires from 34 years of naval career
 

Rear Admiral Senarath Jayasinghe who served as the Director General Civil Engineering at the Naval Headquarters, today (08) bade farewell to his illustrious naval career which spanned over 34 years. Upon calling on, Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne, the outgoing Rear Admiral Jayasinghe was accorded with a Guard of Honour and fellow naval officers accompanied him to the portals of Naval Headquarters in a customary vehicle fleet. The senior and junior sailors also gathered on either sides of the road to pay their tribute to Rear Admiral Jayasinghe.

Rear Admiral Jayasinghe joined Sri Lanka Navy in the year 1981 as an Officer Cadet of the 1st Intake of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University and completed his training at Naval and Maritime Academy in Trincomalee. During his decorated naval career, he had served in many establishments offering his wealth of knowledge for the betterment of the Navy. In recognition of the meritorious service rendered by him to the Navy and motherland, he was awarded the “Vishishta Seva Vibhushanaya” medal as well.
