Second leg of Soccer training for schools located in the Islands of Jaffna Peninsula commenced with Navy’s assistance

As per the directives of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne, the Northern Naval Command commenced several Soccer coaching camps for the school children who are in the Islands of Jaffna Peninsula. As a result, the second leg of the training programme got underway at SLNS Uththara Kankasanthurai on 25^th June 2016, with the intention of imparting essential Soccer skills for the school children.

Meanwhile, as part of the Inter- Island Soccer Tournament which was organized to select players for the ‘Under 15 Islands’ Team’, a match was played between Naianativu and Mandativu Island teams at the ground of SLNS Welusumana located in Mandativu on 27^th June 2016. Deputy Area Commander of Northern Naval Area, Commodore Nandana Jayarathne graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Nayanative Island team won the game by 1-0. The first leg of the training capsule was held at SLNS Uththara on 11^th June 2016.
