Navy displays impressive performances at Defence Services Games
 

The Sri Lanka Navy managed to record many victories at the 9th Defence Services Games (DSG) – 2016 as of now. Accordingly the Sri Lanka Navy men and women pistol firing teams emerged overall champions at the shooting events held at the small bore firing range in Welisara from 11th to 18th June.

Radio Electric Mate KPGD Danushka and Women Petty Officer WGS Priyadarshani were adjudged the Best Shooter in their respective men and women events. They were awarded trophies and certificates by Major General Ravi Rathnasinghem who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The guidance and assistance of the Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Ravidra Wijegunaratne and the comprehensive training given under a former National Champion, Inoka Weerasinghe immensely helped the victorious shooters to reach new heights.

Moreover the Navy clinched the overall championship in Wushu tournament with a tally of 21 Gold Medals, 23 Silver Medals and 15 Bronze Medals beating the Army and Air Force in the competition. The tournament was held at the Welisara Sports Complex from 20^th to 22^nd of this month. The Navy’s men and women Wushu teams received their trophies from the Chief Guest of the event, Major General KRP Rowel.
