Minister of Law & Order and Southern Development pays a visit to the Naval Headquarters Operations Room
Minister of Law & Order and Southern Development, Hon. Sagala Ratnayake paid an observational visit to the Navy’s Main Operations Room at the Naval Headquarters today (22). Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne gave the Minister a warm welcome upon his arrival.
On behalf of the Prime Minister Hon. Ranil Wickramasinghe, Hon. Sagala Ratnayake paid his visit in person to the Naval Headquarters Main Operations Room in order to thank the commendable service extended by the Commander of the Navy and the officers and sailors of SLN in this disastrous situation, and for being able to successfully carry out its flood relief operations without causing any civilian causalities or deaths due to drowning.
During his stay the Minister of Law & Order and Southern Development looked into the proceedings of the rescue missions and the relief operations carried out by the Sri Lanka Navy. Subsequently Commander of the Navy thoroughly briefed the Minister about the number of rescue missions launched so far by the Navy, the deployment of rescue teams in and around Colombo area and the provision of food, water and medical facilities as part of relief measures, or any other accidents.
The Chief of Staff, Rear Admiral Sirimevan Ranasinghe, Director General Operations, Rear Admiral Dharmendra Wettewa and senior officers of the Naval Headquarters, were also present at the Operations Room. Commander of the Navy presented a memento to the Minister Hon. Sagala Ratnayake to mark the occasion.
