Commander of the Navy visits the two Indian Naval Ships
 

Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne today (23) visited onboard the two Indian Naval Ships INS Sutlej and INS Sunayna which arrived in Sri Lanka on 21st of this month. The two Commanding Offers of the ships Commander B. Muralidhar Dongri and Commander Asad Farhat received the Sri Lanka Commander of the Navy very warmly upon his arrival.

The Indian Naval Ships arrived in Sri Lanka with a stock of relief materials for the people who were affected by floods and landslides caused by torrential downpour. Besides the Indian Naval personnel carried out a health camp and food distribution programmes during their stay in Sri Lanka. Commander of the Navy extended his heartfelt gratitude to the crew of the two ships who were exceptionally motivated toward the relief operations which will further strengthen the bilateral state affairs. In similar vein Vice Admiral Wijegunaratne gave away Commendation Letters to the Indian Medical Officers and Medical Assistants in recognition of their commendable job as well. Mementos were also exchanged to mark the occasion. The two ships sailed back to India this morning (23) on completion of their relief mission.

Director General Operations, Rear Admiral Dharmendra Wettewa, Commander Western Naval Area, Rear Admiral Jayantha De Silva, Senior Sfficers of the Naval Headquarters, The Defence Advisor of the Indian High Commission in Sri Lanka, Captain Prakash Gopalan and the Senior Officers of the Indian naval ships were also present at the occasion.
