Navy renders assistance for the removal of Salvinia and Garbage clogged in Cannels leading to Kelani River
 

Due to the flood situation prevailed in Colombo and suburbs during last few days, the Canals which lead to the Kelani River were clogged with Salvinia and Garbage. As a result a group of naval personnel in collaboration with the members of Land Reclamation and Development Corporation managed to clean up the Canals leading to the Kelani River in Brandiyawatta and Wellampitiya areas using Backhoe Loaders and Excavators yesterday (22). The action resulted in swift drainage of stagnant water down stream.
