Navy arrests six persons with 58 kilograms of sea cucumbers
 

Naval personnel attached to SLNS Welusumana in Mandathivu of Northern Naval Command on routine patrol arrested six persons who were illegally harvesting sea cucumbers without having valid license in the seas between Vinayasodi and ‘K’ Point on 11^th May 2016. Fifty-eight (58) kilograms of sea cucumbers (size less than 6 inches) along with an FGD were taken into naval custody during the arrest.

The arrested persons and the items were handed over to the Inspectorate of Fisheries in Poonakary for onward action.
