Officer Under Trainees of Sri Lanka and Indian navies engage in a beach cleaning activity
The Officer Under Trainees (OUTs) belonging to the Sri Lanka Navy and Indian Navy’s First Training Squadron, onboard INS Tir, INS Sujata and Indian Coast Guard Ship Varuna who arrived in Sri Lanka on 15th April 2016 on a training visit, engaged in a series of joint-exercises today (16).
Accordingly, OUTs divided into two teams carried out a beach cleaning campaign this morning (16) covering a 4 km coastal belt stretch of Uswetakeiyawa. The Commanding Officer of SLNS Kelani, Commander Indika Gunawardana guided the OUTs of the two friendly navies when carrying out this magnanimous task. Having completed the beach cleaning effort the OUTs enjoyed their breakfast enriched with traditional Sri Lankan milkrice and sweetmeat. 91 Sri Lanka Navy OUTs and 143 OUTs of the Indian Navy took part in this activity.
