Navy arrests seventeen local fishermen engaged in illegal fishing in Trincomalee
 

Naval personnel attached to SLN Dockyard in Trincomalee arrested seventeen local fishermen with two FGDs engaged in illegal fishing using unauthorized fishing gears in the seas off Chapel Island in Trincomalee on 22^nd March 2016. A pair of diving fins, a diving mask, 2 snorkels, 3 cast-nets and 2 purse-seine nets were also taken into custody during the arrest.

The arrested persons and the items were handed over to the Trincomalee Harbour Police for further investigations.
