Navy’s Inter Command Athletics Meet held in Trincomalee
 

Sri Lanka Navy’s Inter Command Athletics Meet was held in the sports ground of Naval and Maritime Academy in Trincomalee on 12th and 13th March 2016 in a flamboyant fashion. The athletics meet, which was participated by the athletes of navy representing all the commands, consisted of many track and field events.

During the event, which raised the bar for the athletic performance of navy athletes, the best athlete award was won by ME, AD Sooriyaarachchi of Western Naval Command recording a jump of 14.19 m in triple jump event. The overall men’s championship was won by the Western Naval Command while the overall Women’s Championship was clinched by the Training Command. The Deputy Chief of Staff and Commander Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Neil Rosayro graced the closing ceremony of the athletics meet as the Chief Guest. Meanwhile, the match officials of National Athletics Association extended their fullest cooperation for the successful conduct of the athletics meet. The event was attended by a number of Senior, Junior Officers and Sailors belonging to the Eastern Naval Area.
