The Commander of the Navy felicitates the South Asian Games Medal Winners
The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne hailed the Navy sportsmen and women who brought fame to Sri Lanka, representing the country in the 12th South Asian Games held in India from 5th to 16 February. 57 Navy athletes, who won gold, silver and bronze medals in South Asian Games, received cheques and prizes from the Commander of the Navy. The event was held today (25) at the Somathilake Dissanayake Auditorium at SLNS Parakrama.
Navy athletes bagged 3 gold medals, 25 silver medals and 29 bronze medals in the South Asian Games. The Chief of Staff, Rear Admiral Sirimevan Ranasinghe, Director General Service, Rear Admiral Eric Jayakody, host of Senior and Junior Officers attached to the Naval Headquarters were also present on the occasion.
