Commander of the Navy meets senior naval officers attending IFR

The Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne, is in India attending the International Fleet Review (IFR) organized by the Indian Navy, met a number of participating senior naval officers and held cordial discussions of mutual importance, strengthening the naval ties with the respective navies. Among the high ranking naval officers the Commander met were the Chief of Naval Staff of the Indian Navy, Admiral RK Dhowan, the Chief of the Maritime Staff of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force, Admiral Tomohisa Takei, the Inspector of the German Navy, Vice Admiral Andreas Krause, the Commander of the Royal Canadian Navy, Vice Admiral Mark Norman and the Vice Admiral Ben Key-Royal Navy.

Twenty-four foreign naval chiefs are taking part in the IFR at the invitation of the Chief of Naval Staff of the Indian Navy, Admiral RK Dhowan. Along with the Sri Lanka Navy the Navies of the US, China, the United Kingdom, Australia, France, Canada, Russia, South Africa, Japan, South Korea, Peru, Chile, Colombia and Brazil are participating in the four-day naval extravaganza held under the theme “United through Oceans”.
