Navy arrests thirty-one local fishermen engaged in illegal fishing

Naval personnel attached to SLNS Vijaya in Kalpitiya arrested thirty-one local fishermen with 8 FGDs engaged in illegal fishing using tow banned fishing nets in the Baththalangunduwa and Kibulbokka sea areas on 31^st January 2016. a pair of diving fins and three GPSs were also taken into custody during the arrest.

The arrested persons and the items were handed over to the Assistant Director of Fisheries (Puttalam) for further investigations.
