Newly appointed Commander of the Combined Task Force 151 calls on the Commander of the Navy
The newly appointed Commander of the Combined Task Force 151 (CTF 151), Commodore Zahid Ilyas of the Pakistan Navy, called on the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne at the Naval Headquarters on 28th January 2016.
The Commander of the Navy expressed his appreciation of the Pakistan Navy’s assumption of command of the coalition force responsible for counter piracy operations off the coast of Somalia and the Horn of African region and pledged the SLN’s support to Commodore Ilyas during his tenure as its Commander.
Commodore Ilyas is in Sri Lanka as part of key leadership engagement to enhance cooperation through direct interaction with senior naval leadership and defence officials of regional countries. He was accompanied by the Defence Advisor of the Pakistan High Commission in Sri Lanka, Colonel Muhammad Rajil Irshad Khan. Mementos were also exchanged to mark the occasion.
