Sri Lanka Navy conducts Naval Exercise with Indian Naval ships off Colombo
On completion of their four-day visit, the Indian naval aircraft carrier “INS Vikramaditya” and “INS Mysore”, joined with Sri Lankan Naval Ships “Sayura”, “Samudura” and three Fast Attack Craft in the seas off Colombo for a combined five-hour naval exercise on 24th January 2016.
This exercise provided for both navies with a practical-based training in real conditions. Apart from the training aspect, the exercise was a great advantage to evaluate system compatibility and interoperability between the two navies.
Maneuvering, station keeping, maintaining of formations were practised with the involvement of both navies, not only to train personnel in a challenging environment, but also to enhance the co-operation, co-ordination and the friendship of two regional navies which play an effective role in maintaining peace in the Indian Ocean.
