A team of US Marine officials visits SLN Headquarters
 

A team of US Marine officials visited the Sri Lanka Navy Headquarters yesterday (20) to participate at the initial planning conference on navy patrolmen training for the year 2016. During the visit they met the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne and discussed matters related to the training of patrolmen branch personnel. The officials included Major Nicholas Rodert Nappi, Lieutenant Derek John Chamberlain, Leading Chief Petty Officer Christopher Lee Wilson and the US Embassy official of the Office of Defence Cooperation, Lieutenant David R. Chesson. At present Sri Lanka Navy conducts training for a marine battalion at Mullikulam.

The Commander of the Navy has also been invited to participate in the Pacific Command Amphibious Leaders Symposium 2016 (PALS 16) scheduled to be held in Southern California, USA from 11-14 July 2016. The intent of PALS is to promote shared awareness, increased cooperation, and enhanced interoperability among like-mind forces.
