Commander of the Navy addresses newly enlisted Direct Entry Officers and 57th Intake Officer Cadets
The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne addressed the newly enlisted Officer Cadets of the 57th Intake and the Direct Entry Officers at the auditorium of SLNS Parakrama on 08th January 2016. He warmly welcomed the newly-enlisted officers and thanked the parents for giving their consent to their children to join the Navy and serve the Motherland with distinction. The Commander called upon the Officer Cadets to utilize the rare opportunity of becoming a naval officer to the maximum since only a selected few would get that privilege in their life time.
The 57th Intake consists of 26 Officer Cadets enlisted for Executive, Logistics, Provost, Engineering and Electrical branches. Eleven (11) Direct Entry Officers were enlished for Shipwright, Dental, Clinical Psychologist and Counseling branches and undergo their naval training at the Naval and Maritime Academy in Trincomalee.
The Director General Training, Rear Admiral Udaya Bandara, the Director General Personnel, Rear Admiral Sisira Jayakody, several senior naval officers attached to the Naval Headquarters, the parents and family members of the enlisted officers were also present on the occasion.
