19 naval personnel received houses under Api Wenuwen Api housing project
Nineteen (19) naval personnel received houses under the Api Wenuwen Api Housing project Phase II (2015). They received the keys to their new houses at a ceremony held under the patronage of the State Minister of Defence, Hon. Ruwan Wijewardene at the auditorium of the Defence Services College in Colombo on 07th January 2016. Sixty-nine (69) naval personnel also received certificates of entitlement for building-material assistance worth Rs. 750,000/= each enabling them to complete their partially built houses at the ceremony.
Accordingly, 15 naval personnel received houses built in the Hambantota district and 4 naval personnel received houses built in the Mullaitivu district. The Api Wenuwen Api housing project is implemented under the guidance of the Secretary to the Ministry of Defence in tribute to Tri-forces personnel defending the motherland.
The Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, Eng. Karunasena Hettiarachchi, the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva, the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne, the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Gagan Bulathsinghala, senior government officials, military officers and a large number of service families were also present on the occasion.
