Navy brings a severely injured fisherman ashore for medical treatment
Sri Lanka Navy brought ashore a severely injured fisherman, who had been onboard a fishing trawler named 'Ayodya' in deep southern sea, on 31st December 2015 for medical treatment.
The Navy was alerted by the Hikkaduwa Police about the incident on 30th and Sri Lanka Navy’s Fast Missile Vessel, SLNS Suranimala was dispatched accordingly to render assistance to the patient whose right leg had a severe facture requiring urgent medical attention. The patient was taken onboard the naval ship at a distance of 173 nautical miles south of Dondra Head and subsequently transferred to an SLN Fast Attack Craft to be rushed ashore. On arrival, the patient was immediately dispatched to the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital for medical treatment.
