Navy organizes a Christmas festival for Delft
The Navy organized a Christmas festival for the residents of Delft on 21st December 2015. It was held at the Duglas Devananda Cultural Hall with the participation of the Deputy Area Commander, Commodore Meril Sudarshana, naval personnel attached to SLNS Wasamba, Police and Government officials in the area and Christian devotees residing on the island.
The festival commenced with a sermon delivered by the resident priest and carols sung by the children attending the Delft church. Biblical Stories were also enacted conveying the message of Christmas and the value of peace for all communities. Santa Clause distributed gifts wishing merry Christmas to all that attend the event, which was organized to share the joy of the season and strengthen religious amity.
