65th Navy Day reception was held at SLNS Rangalla

The 65th Navy Day reception was held at SLNS Rangalla on 19th December 2015 under the patronage of the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne. A large number of serving and retired naval officers including former Commanders of the Navy, Admiral Basil Goonasekara, Admiral Cecil Thisera, Admiral Daya Sandagiri, Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda, Admiral Thisara Samarasinghe and Admiral Jayantha Perera attended the event organized in view of the SLN's 65th anniversary.

The US Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defence for South and South East Asia, Dr. Amy Searight also graced the occasion as a special invitee along with the Commander of the Air Force and defence officials attached to the foreign missions in Sri Lanka.

The SLN celebrates the Navy Day on December 09th each year. A wide variety of social and religious activities are held in accordance with naval customs and traditions in view of the anniversary celebrations.
