Navy seize 5 kilograms of gold hidden inside a fishing boat

Naval troops attached to SLNS Thammanna of the North Central Command in a pre-dawn raid conducted on 18th November 2015 on information received, seized a haul of 5 kilograms of gold, which had been hidden inside a fiber glass dingy at the seas of North of Urumalai.

It is suspected that the gold, comprising 19 gold pieces, had been kept concealed under the fishing nets for smuggling to India. The arrested person and gold handed over to Customs officials (Jaffna) for further investigations.
