State Minister of Defence declares open newly-constructed Sailors Married Quarters Complex at Welisara

The State Minister of Defence, Hon. Ruwan Wijewardene declared open the newly-constructed Sailors Married Quarters at the Welisara on 18^th December 2015. The Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, Eng. Karunasena Hettiarachchi, the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne, the Chief of Staff of the Navy, the Commander Western Naval Area, senior naval officers attached to the Naval Headquarters and the Western Naval Command were also present at the occasion.

The sailors married quarters were constructed at a total cost of 128 million rupees to fulfill a long-felt need. The two blocks provide accommodation to 32 naval families. Each living unit has 02 spacious bedrooms, a bathroom and a kitchen with all amenities.

The State Minister handed over the key to the occupants of a new housing unit to mark the ceremonial opening of the complex.
