Commander of the Navy declares open the NR&D Wing at Welisara

The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne declared open the new building of the Naval Research and Development Wing at the Welisara Naval Complex on 18^th December 2015. The Chief of Staff of the Navy, the Commander Western Naval Area, senior naval officers attached to the Naval Headquarters and the Western Naval Command were also present at the opening ceremony.

The Commander of the Navy expressed his appreciation of the work being undertaken by the NR&DW and its contribution to the modernization of the Navy and enhancement of existing capabilities utilizing latest technical know-how. He also tested the effectiveness of the small arms firing simulator developed by the NR&D Wing to mark the opening of the new building of the NR&DW.
