Navy arrests twelve persons engaged in illegal fishing

Naval personnel attached to SLNS Mahaweli in coordination with the Fisheries Inspector - Trincomalee arrested 12 persons with 2 fishing vessels for engagement in illegal fishing in the seas off Mud Cove Pier in Trincomalee on 10th December 2015. Two purse-seine nets and approximately 310 kilograms of illegal fish catch were also taken into custody during the arrest.

The arrested fishermen along with the fish catch and the fishing vessels were handed over to the Fisheries inspector - Trincomalee for further investigation.
