War Heroes honoured on Remembrance Day

The main ceremony to commemorate fallen war heroes who paid the supreme sacrifice was held at the Vihara Maha Devi Park today (08th November 2015). The Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne represented the Navy at the ceremony. A number of senior naval officers and a cross section of naval personnel were also present.

In parallel with the main ceremony to commemorate the fallen war heroes, the Sri Lanka Navy also held Remembrance Day ceremonies today at the Naval Headquarters in Colombo and other naval areas under the patronage of respective Area Commanders and Commanding Officers. Naval personnel attached to all Naval establishments, ships and craft participated in ceremonies to pay tribute to the fallen war heroes. Two-minute silence was observed in honour of the war heroes and the Bugal Call, Last Post was sounded in tribute to their sacrifices.
