Twenty-four Indian fishermen arrested for poaching in Sri Lankan waters
Sri Lanka Navy assisted the Sri Lanka Coast Guard to arrest twenty-four Indian fishermen along with four Indian fishing trawlers poaching in Sri Lankan waters at the distances between 3 to 6 nautical miles from Thalai-mannar on 12th October 2015. When the arrest was made two trawlers were poaching north and the other two were in the general area of north-east of Thalai-mannar.
The arrested fishermen and the trawlers were brought to Thalai-mannar pier and they were handed over to the officials of the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (Mannar) for onward action.
