16 persons arrested for illegal fishing

Naval personnel attached to the Eastern Naval Command arrested 16 persons on the suspicion of illegal fishing south west of Elizabeth island on 26th September 2015. They were handed over to Trincomalee harbour police with two FGD’s and two illegal fishing nets for further investigations.

The Sri Lanka Navy always extends it’s fullest assistance to the department of fisheries & aquatic resources and the Police to curb the illegal fishing activities at sea.
