Commander of the Navy Chief Guest at Richmond College Old Scouts and Old Guides’ Day
The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne was the Chief Guest at the Old Scouts and Old Guides’ Day of the Richmond College, Galle, held on 24th September 2015. He was warmly received by the Principal, Staff, Old Scouts, Old Guides and the college scout troop on arrival and ushered into the Sneath Grounds where the Day’s events were conducted as part of the college centennial scout celebrations.
A large number of Old Scouts and Guides had turned out expressing solidarity and they were honoured by the presence of the Commander of the Navy, a President’s Scout of Royal College, Colombo 7, who is keen on promoting scouting to mould exemplary citizens. Vice Admiral Wijegunaratne also is a life member of King’s Scout, and Queen’s & President’s Scout Guild of Sri Lanka.
Richmond College, a leading educational institution in Southern Sri Lanka, celebrates 100 years of official scouting this year with a host of scout activities to coincide with its proud scouting legacy which dates back to the year 1915.
Mementos were also exchanged between the Commander of the Navy and the Principle of the Richmond College to the mark the occasion.
