Commander of the Navy felicitated by Sri Lanka Queen’s & President’s Scout Guild
The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne, who is a President’s Scout and Lifetime Member of the Sri Lanka Queen’s & President’s Scout Guild (SLQPSG), was felicitated at the National Headquarters of the Sri Lanka Scout Association (SLSA) on 19th September 2015. The Chief Commissioner of the Sri Lanka Scout Association, Professor Nimal De Silva, the President of the Sri Lanka Queen’s & President’s Scout Guild, Deshamanya Nimal Bulathsinhala, and a large number of members of the SLSA and the SLQPSG were present at the felicitation ceremony followed by a fellowship reception.
Upon arrival, the Commander of the Navy was received by the scouts in accordance with their traditions to honour their distinguished President's Scout in the 70s. At the ceremony, the SLQPSG congratulated Vice Admiral Wijegunaratne on his elevation to the post of Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy and conveyed their best wishes to him in his future endeavours during his tenure at the helm of the victorious navy. The SLQPSG also expressed their appreciation to him for making them proud by reaching the highest echelon in his chosen career and leading an exemplary life, upholding the ideals of the scout movement. Mementos were also exchanged to mark the memorable occasion.
Vice Admiral Wijegunaratne, a distinguished old boy of Royal College, Colombo, was a member of its 42nd Scout Group and made a President’s Scout in 1979.
