SLN Dockyard conducts “Ganadevi Pooja” to invoke blessings
“Ganadevi Pooja” was conducted at the Gandevi Kovil in Trincomalee naval base on 17th September 2015. A colourful procession was also held on 18th with the statue of God Ganesh being paraded through the premises of the naval base and Trincomalee town to invoke blessings.
The Commander Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Neil Rosayro, senior naval officers, Heads of Departments, senior and junior naval personnel and their family members and a large number of civilians participated in the annual Hindu religious ceremony.
This year’s “Ganadevi Pooja” was held on a grand scale with the participation of not only naval personnel of Hindu faith but also others who belongs to other religious faiths symbolizing religious harmony among all naval personnel. Civilians were also given the opportunity to take part with a view to enhance community relations and to assure the navy’s assistance to their welfare and religious observances.
