Inter Command Sailing Championship 2015 held at Bolgoda Lake

The Inter Command Sailing Championship 2015 of the Sri Lanka Navy was held at the Bolgoda Lake on 10th and 11th September 2015. The Commander Western Naval Area, Rear Admiral Jayantha De Silva attended the event as the chief guest. With an impressive overall performance, the Northern Naval Command emerged the Champions and the Southern Naval Command became the runners-up in the men’s category. The women’s championship was won by the Eastern Naval Command while the North Central Naval Command became the runners-up in a fierce competition for supremacy.

For the best individual performance for men, Leading Seaman DMGPH Dissanayake and Able Seaman WADR Kumara of the Northern Naval Command won gold medals. Engineering Mate TDS Perera and Able Seaman MHS Lakmal of the Southern Naval Command were awarded silver medals. Able Patrolman JHMPI Jayapadma and Able Seaman JR Jeewantha of the Northern Naval Command secured bronze medals. In the women’s category, Woman Writer SCM Samarawickrama and Woman Able Seaman KMD Priyanjali of the Eastern Naval Command won gold medals for their best individual performance. The silver medals were awarded to Woman Recruit LHK Silva and Woman Recruit WPTI Karunarathne of the same naval command. Woman Able Seaman KMJDN Kaurupitiya and Woman Physical Training Instructor SAIS Samarasinghe of the Southern Naval Command received bronze medals.
