Newly-constructed junior sailors' holiday bungalow and basketball court at SLNS Mahanaga declared open

The Commander South Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Jayantha De Silva declared open the newly- constructed junior sailors’ holiday bungalow and the basketball court at SLNS Mahanaga in Panama. The Deputy Area Commander, Commodore HRP Gunawardana, the Commanding Officer of the SLNS Mahanaga, Captain PASK Pitigala, officers and sailors in the area were also present on the occasion.

The holiday bungalow was declared open on 30^th August 2015. It consists of 03 spacious bedrooms, living and dining areas and a fully equipped pantry. The bungalow fulfills a long-felt need of comfortable accommodation facilities for junior naval personnel and their families who wish to spend their vacation in the South Eastern Naval Area.

The new basketball court, constructed to uplift the basketball standards in the area, was declared open on 31^st August 2015. A friendly basketball match was also played by the South Eastern Naval Area team and the Southern Naval Area team to mark the official opening of the new basketball court.
