Admiral Jayantha Perera has been appointed as President's Advisor on Maritime Affairs

His Excellency the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, Mr. Maithripala Sirisena, has been pleased to appoint Admiral Jayantha Perera as the Presidential Advisor on Maritime Affairs with effect from 13th August 2015.

Admiral Perera retired as the 19th Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy after an unblemished service of 37 years. A distinguished past student of  Thurstan College, Colombo, Having started his naval career as an Officer Cadet in 1978, he had his initial training at the Naval and Maritime Academy in Trincomalee. Admiral Perera is a gunnery specialist who had followed his Staff Course in India and National Defence Course in Pakistan. He holds MSc Degrees in Defense Studies and Strategic Studies.


Admiral Jayantha Perera is a recipient of the Rana Wickrama Padakkama for gallantry. He has also been recognized with much appreciation for his exemplary and distinguished service and has received many commendations from several Commanders of the Navy for his outstanding performance of duty, hard work, dedication, exceptional contribution and loyalty to the naval service.
