Twenty Direct Entry Officers pass out at Naval & Maritime Academy in Trincomalee
Twenty Direct Entry Officers belonging to the 01/2015 Direct Entry Intake of the Naval and Maritime Academy (NMA) was pass out at an elegant parade held at the main parade ground of the NMA in Trincomalee on 24th July 2015. The Commander Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Neil Rosayro graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and took the salute.
The Commandant of the Naval and Maritime Academy, Commodore YN Jayarathna, senior officers representing Naval Headquarters and Eastern Naval Command, Directing Staff of the NMA, parents, and school children of Tissa School, Trincomalee and well-wishers were also present at the parade.
The ceremony; held on completion of the sixmonths of arduous training at the NMA, and as well as onboard various fleet units, was held in keeping with the time-honoured customs and traditions of the Navy. The event concluded with a spectacular cultural performance presented by the Navy Cultural Troupe and a band display of the Sri Lanka Navy band, drawing the glamorous parade to a fitting conclusion.
Lieutenant (E) P Gowthaman won the award for the Best Direct Entry Officer of the Intake and his book prize was presented by the Commandant at a special ceremony held at the Naval Institute on same day afternoon in the presence of parents and the Directing Staff of the NMA.
