Commander of the Navy pays homage to Sacred Tooth Relic and calls on Mahanayakes of Malwatte and Asgiriya Chapters to receive blessings
The Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne paid homage to the Sacred Tooth Relic at the Sri Dalada Maligawa in Kandy on 20th July 2015 and called on the Mahanayakes of the Malwatte and the Asgiriya Chapters to receive blessings on his new appointment. The Navy Commander was accompanied by his family members and several senior naval officers.
The Navy Commander first visited the Sri Dalada Maligawa. He was received by the Diyawadana Nilame Mr. Prdeep Nilanga Dela. Thereafter, he called on the Mahanayake of the Malwatte Chapter the Most Venerable Thibbotuwawe Sri Siddhartha Sumangala Thera and the Mahanayake of the Asgiriya Chapter the Most Venerable Galagama Dhammasiddi Sri Dhammananda Attadassi Thera to receive their blessings. He also paid homage at the historical Adahana Maluva Gedige Viharaya while at the Asgiriya Temple.
The Mahanayakes invoked the blessings of the Triple Gem on the new Navy Commander and delivered Anushasanas wishing strength and courage to carry out his duties with a firm resolve, upholding the traditions and customs which the country is blessed with. The Navy Commander paying his obeisance to the Mahanayakes offered them Atapirikaras and expressed his heart-felt gratitude for their wise counsel.
