Commander of the Navy awards Letters of Commendation to naval personnel for their contribution to the national efforts in eradication of drug menace
The Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne awarded Letters of Commendation to naval personnel in recognition of their exceptional performance in apprehending one of the largest hauls of cannabis (Keral Ganja) in the seas off Thalaimannar. The LOCs were presented during his visit to the North Central Naval Area on 19th July 2015.
The Commander of the Navy addressed a cross section of the naval personnel attached to the North Central Command at the Malima Reception Hall in Poonewa and praised their vigilance and commitment which had made the Navy proud. He elaborated on the Navy’s continued operations in preventing drug trafficking in accordance with the national efforts in the eradication of the drug menace from the country. He commended the dedication of the naval personnel to the entrusted task and thanked them for producing results that have won the admiration of the entire nation.
The Commander North Central Naval Area Rear Admiral Dimuthu Gunawardena, naval officers and sailors attached to the North Central Naval Command were also present on the occasion.
