Secretary of Defence visits Nagadeepa
The Secretary to the Ministry of Defence Mr. BMUD Basnayake paid homage to the Nagadeepa Raja Maha Viharaya on 19th July 2015 during his official visit to the Jaffna peninsula. He was received by the Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne on his arrival at Nagadeepa. The Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva and officials of the Ministry of Defence accompanied the Secretary of Defence.
The Secretary of Defence paid respects to the Chief Incumbent of the temple the Most Ven. Navadagala Padumakitti Tissa Nayake Thera and received his blessings. He also visited the Nagapooshani Amman Kovil to receive blessings.
The Commander Northern Naval Area Rear Admiral Eric Jayakody was also present to receive the visiting top defence officials to the historical islet whose security is being safeguarded by the Navy to ensure the peaceful coexistence of its multi-ethnic and multi-religious civilian population.
