Commander of the Navy pays a courtesy call on Defence Secretary

The newly appointed Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne paid a courtesy call on the Secretary of Defence Mr. BMUD Basnayake at the Ministry of Defence on 14^th July 2015. The Secretary of Defence conveyed his best wishes to Vice Admiral Wijegunaratne on his new appointment.

The Commander of the Navy presented a special memento to the Secretary of Defence to mark his first official call upon his appointment as the new Commander of the Navy.

Vice Admiral Wijegunaratne assumed duties on 11th July 2015 as the 20th Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy. Prior to his present appointment, he served as the Chief of Staff of the Navy. He was promoted to the 03-star rank upon his appointment as the Commander of the Navy.
