2015 male sea cadet assessment camp phase I concludes
 

The phase I of the male sea cadet annual assessment camp – 2015 concluded on 18th June 2015 with a passing out parade held at the parade ground of the Naval and Maritime Academy (NMA) in Trincomalee. The Director of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) Major General LWCBB Rajaguru graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and took the salute.

The camp was held from 10th to 19th June 2015 at the NMA with the participation of 1,180 male sea cadets from 43 schools representing 24 battalions (male) of the National Cadet Corps. The cadets were given training in military tactics, battle field manoeuvres, physical fitness, squad and weapon drills as well as sea exposure onboard a naval ship. They were assessed in several aspects which included social activities, dramatic talents, presentation skills, power of command, physical fitness, confidence building and squad drills.

Trophies and certificates were awarded to the winners and participants by the Chief Guest and the Commandant of the Naval and Maritime Academy Commodore YN Jayarathna. The Commander of the Navy’s Challenge Cup, which is awarded to the Best Sea Cadet, was presented to Petty Officer KDCP Deshapriya of Sir John Kothalawala College, Dodamgaslanda.

The event concluded with a colourful cultural show presented by the cadet band of Boys' Model School in Malabe and the Navy’s western band and cultural troupe. Officers from the NMA and the NCC, principals and teachers of the participating schools and parents of the cadets were also present on the occasion.
