Insignia Awarding Ceremony of the 22nd SBS Intake
 

The Insignia Awarding Ceremony of the 22nd Intake of the Special Boat Squadron (SBS) was held at the SBS Headquarters in Trincomalee on 04th April 2015. The Commander Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Rohana Perera graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and took the salute.

A large number of officers of the Eastern Naval Area including the Commanding Officer SBS, Commander Nalinda Jayasinghe and family members of the SBS personnel were also present on the occasion.

The intake consisting of 02 officers and 25 sailors started its thirteen-moth training on 10th February 2015, which made them specialised in water-borne and land - based operations during the wide range of training. The Best SBS member was Ordinary Seaman MKKM Karunathilake while Sub Lieutenant PHMTH Pilapitiya received the award for the highest aggregate in overall subjects.

A display of SBS combat skills which included small craft manoeuvres, an air-borne and small boat induction, a mock raid on an enemy hide-out, anti-drowning and combat diving drills was executed at the end of the ceremony.
