Passing out of 220th regular intake
 
 

Three hundred ninety-three naval recruits belonging to the 220th Regular Intake of the Sri Lanka Navy passed out at SLNS Vidura in Sampur on 21st March 2015. The Director General Civil Engineering, Rear Admiral Wipula Jayasinghe was the Chief Guest and took the salute. The Commandant of SLNS Vidura Captain Anura Danapala, senior naval officers, parents, and well-wishers were also present on the occasion.

Recruit JI Maduranga was the Best Recruit while Recruit WGGA Lionel was selected as the recruit with the highest aggregate in all subjects. Recruit PDHD Wijesinghe won the award for the Best Sportsman and Recruit NBS Charaka won the award for the Best Marksman.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest, Rear Admiral Jayasinghe stated that the naval personnel who passed out on completion of their basic naval training should feel proud in joining the Navy, which has an illustrious history spanning over 64 years. He expressed his confidence that all of them would carry out their naval duties conscientiously and with commitment in order to safeguard the motherland. On behalf of the Commander of the Navy, Rear Admiral Jayasinghe expressed his gratitude to the parents for enabling their sons to fulfill a national service.
