Inter-command athletics meet 2015
 
 

The Inter-command athletics meet of the Sri Lanka Navy was held at the athletics ground of the Naval and Maritime Academy on 13th and 14th March 2015 with the participation of over 300 athletes representing all Naval Commands. The Deputy Area Commander of Eastern Naval Area, Commodore Prince Liyanage was the chief guest at the concluding ceremony. Senior naval officers and a large number of naval personnel serving in the Eastern Naval Area were also present on the occasion.

Recruit DHKD Kumara, who won the long jump recording 6.38 meters, and Woman Recruit LA Kannangara, who won the 100 meter sprint event clocking 13.9 seconds, were crowned as the Best Male Athlete and the Best Female Athlete respectively. Both athletes represented the North Central Naval Command.

The Training Command, which earned 52 points, won the Men’s Championship while the Western Naval Command secured the Women’s Championship, scoring 60 points. The North Central Command and the Training Command emerged men and women runners-up, collecting 40 and 47 points respectively.

The two-day athletics event, which was held under the supervision of the judges of the Sri Lanka Athletics Association, concluded with a gymnastic display and a colourful band display.
